Zig zagging through life bouncing from the poles of the masculine to the feminine, the Yang to the yin, did you ever get stuck in one and not know how to pull back into balance?
I see that from my years of Yanging, it was because there was no one else to rely on to do the Yang stuff and so it fell to me, and I stepped up to the plate, and so my Yin had to go into hibernation until I was forcibly pushed into Full on YIN in recent times.
But back to the Yang years. I was so stretched, awkwardly and diametrically to cover this stuff I lost sight of who I was and what I wanted to be and do. Its not even that I did a really good job of everything. I just "did", working my way through the list of stuff to be done, I couldn't stop to bring in any Yin to soften and yield. I probably did not know that there was an option to do this. It was so far removed from me, I had no knowledge of this and worked to supply for the presenting need. It was not working a job to create a career, or about creating a chosen lifestyle. It was the basics of supporting a family and not having time or depth of breath to see I had a life too. My actions were for everybody else, and I had no real emotional back up, or anyone who was interested enough in me to help me step aside from relentless Yanging. I felt that support was no where on my horizon. There was no defining long term plan that actually came to fruition...I missed myself and felt sad. I blamed the situations and looking back I see most of what I was doing was on automatic, ticking boxes....but not actually creating anything, just seeing what needed doing and doing it, and not being able to adjust into another way of being.
I had always been interested in psychic phenomena, alternative therapy, being compassionate and altruistic. When my children were small I studied counselling, and went into healing, and had major breakthroughs. I could see people's stuff and could see their perfect template, but they could not act on it because they could rise up to meet the vision in that zone. It was really quite Yang. I was doing it all for everybody else, even my art was with the intention of doing workshops for others, and my joy in being artistic was still a long way. Through meditation, and only after years of doing it do I realise that it was very active meditation, so again... very yang.
I see now that my foray into counselling and healing and meditation in those Yang years, was about me calling out to find 'me'. I kind of knew that no one had answers for me...well not the answers I needed.
If you knew me then and now, it would appear that I have succumbed into the Yin. Totally. I have lost touch with the exterior outside world because, and other than doing my chores, and so separating out the two aspects of inner world and outer world, I am choosing more to explore my personal internal world which does not include the outside members of my world.
But the Yin, while being beautiful inner space, and allows me to be receptive to myself, I am finding that meditation, and seeking answers only in the Yin is unbalancing me to TOO MUCH YIN.
How to pull out of the Yin winter and wake up in the Yang summer?
How to listen (Yin)? and to be receptive to what I am, feel and want to do create (Yang)?
Manifestation and abundance are the words that buzzing around right now, but from what function are we creating?
Wholesome Creation, in the 'whole', can only be created from a place of being whole.
Anything else created is from a 'lack of' or 'too much of' one thing or another. The You that creates situations and events, will only create from the platform of where you are creating. If mainly Yin, then nothing will happen, just more Yin but will gradually feel 'less than'. If you are operating mainly from the Yang, then everything will have you running head long off many cliffs.
Yang qualities include 'taking control'. So when Yang is 'unbalanced' by absence of Yin, it takes control, even if it doesn't have the necessary qualifications to take you into situations where perhaps you'd rather not be.
Yin likes to be the receiver and so left unchecked, or when unbalanced by absence of Yang, you are waiting for something to happen that will not.
In these times we are undergoing a complete change so that as ...
the lesser masculine YIN and feminine YANG, are becoming the Higher versions of themselves. the divine feminine returns to full empowerment to meet her divine Masculine counterpart in full empowerment.
We too are undergoing steps to become consciously aware of this 'higher Yin and Yang' in balance in us.
To embody this change in our being, we are being nudged to RECOGNISE/SEE/UNDERSTAND:
- firstly that we embody qualities of YIN and YANG.....Masculine and Feminine aspects, and see how we act with them, and within them, and how we can act to balance them.
- Then, from this point of understanding the balance, and attaining balance... we can assume naturally and with ease, the 'Higher Balance' of the Higher Yin, (Divine masculine) and Yang (divine feminine) qualities.
While looking for a narrative on balancing the feminine and masculine I came across this which the writer describes the dance between Yin and Yang.
THE BLOG
Balancing Your Dual Energies for Greater Happiness
Besides reading on the topic, I began taking ballroom dance lessons to strengthen my feminine energy. In ballroom dance, there is a leader who is usually the male (masculine energy) and a follower, a female (feminine energy). During my first few classes, my instructor would request that I stop leading and anticipating the next steps, and allow him to lead. A good dance leader is one who can guide his dance partner through touch and sight. A follower can feel the direction and the steps by the energy and the touch of her partner. By giving up my “control,” I was better able to follow his lead which led to a more enjoyable and pleasant dancing experience. Dancing became easier when we were not competing against each other (masculine energy) but rather working as a team (feminine energy). The result of letting go, trusting and receiving his gift of safety was freeing and allowed me to enjoy the experience.

But for now, it makes sense for me to go back to the old and the ancient, to get to grips with the description of the qualities ascribed to Yin and Yang, and to work on bringing back qualities that are missing when a life has become unbalanced, by oscillating in extremes between the two. This may take some time....

The Concept of Yin and Yang
- Shady side of hill/ sunny side of hill – there is one hill with two aspects
- The shady side of the hill is cool, moist, less active. This is the yin side, within yang.
- The sunny side of the hill is warm, dry, more active. This is the yang side, within yin.
- As the sun moves across the sky, the sun and shade also move across the hill.
In this example, the hill is constantly changing, by having variations of more or less sun or shade. It is always in flux and never remains exactly the same. The Yin and Yang symbol exemplifies this process as Yin literally means "dark side of the mountain" and refers to nourishment, enduring, moving inward; Yang means "sunny side of the mountain" and encompasses active movement, growth and outward energy. All of nature can be viewed as an interplay of the two, where one cannot exist without the other.
