I love the moments of peace I get in a garden, any garden, or any green space, or indeed any and ALL places of nature. In fact, in my twenties, I spent a whole year recovering and working through a depression or a decompression, and for a while I was at my parents and found drawn to turn outside to the garden, and committed to some vigorous gardening. It was a way for me to pull myself out from being in a deep state of the doldrums. Since then I have always loved flowers but for a long time did not give it more thought than that.
Anyway, back to now. I love arranging flowers, putting colours together and just seeing them in nature is calming and reassuring. I moved two years ago from a house that had a huge garden, the lady who lived there before had created a wonderland of plants trees and shrubs. I took it on and for ten years it was a harbour and sanctuary. The breadth of flowers each season was always amazing. The house was not brilliant but the garden more than made up for it. In fact spiritually connecting with her, I found the lady of the house to be deeply sad, and see that she had immersed herself in the garden, and even when she passed over, she stayed present in this place. My children grew up and the garden became the main place. It all came to be, harmonised in the garden...even teenager parties that kept happening most weekends while I was away looking after my old folks.
The house I am renting now, I moved into at a particularly difficult time, the old house was being sold by the old lady's grandaughter and we had to move. In a spirit of defeat (since understood and sorted) the house we relocated to did not have such a lovely garden. It was by contrast very sparse.
We are coming into the second summer living here, and the garden is blooming, without me doing one bit of gardening, flowers are just arriving by magic.
The first year I was barely here anyway. The loads on me brought me forward and back relentlessly caring and hospital visits as my own father became ill and died; my old parents depended on me for everything. So my rented garden, stayed a sad and depleted sight, it reflected my spirit at the time.
Stuff happens, but I managed to get a few spiritual readings in, and one time I learned during a 'touching-base with spiritual reading' session, that I could do spiritual readings using a flower.
This felt amazing and is a great technique and tool do a reading for someone.
I have been drawn to do a floristry course, and want to delve deeper into why. I went out into my garden and really looked at it. It is beautiful now, with a small field of forget-me-nots, in place of where the bluebells had reigned, and there are full-on ferns and grasses, and of course the dandelions have gone but the area under the trees has swollen into a palette of sensational wild flowers. This year too, there is a flower called 'honesty' which I have never seen here before.
Image of Honesty.
Alongside my inner growth, my garden too has grown and flourished. I love that birds come to give me messages, and my three legged cat, has a lovely enclosure to be the 'outside Cat' she once was, but now she is getting too old, and I love that wild meadow flowers spring to life from seemingly nowhere, bringing too their messages and nature codes.
The message in flowers, at the basic 3d level, is that 'flowers' are pretty and invite you to love them and tend them. The bigger picture is about the wonder of 'nature and of love'.
Whole industries are built on the power of the flower. Look at Holland, historically known for its love of producing tulips, and today remains a 'Flowers' producing country. There is always a national flower, there is always a favourite flower. There are always flowers, look between the cracks in urban concrete jungles and in the height of summer there are tiny dots of yellows, pinks and red, and when they are looked at closely, you see tiny geometric worlds of intricate and eternal projections of wonder, tiny faces of God.
Look at the cycles of nature and availability of different flowers at different times of the year. God looking back at you, reflecting or projecting some deeper meaning, message or sign.... Whole industries are based on "selling Nature back to us", because sadly we have been veering down other paths of sophistication and civilisation as technology teeters in its dominant status....So where we veered off a natural path, others have been keen to profit from our innate need to have a connection with nature. In fact we humans are 'nature' manifested in a 'walking and talking species of flower'. All is nature.
My favorite shop in London is the Designers Guild, which has its prominence in 'Nature based' design. The flower is a geometric code of beauty, a power house of nature blended into colour and fragrance, frequency and healing. The colours alone are vibrant frequencies of electromagnetic energy. There is more, so much more to flowers in a multidimensional way, and I have decided to start with the 3d level and initiate a path through the multidimensional presence of flowers, creating a healing that I can share with others.
I have learned that to start something, I have to construct from base level up, and to do that will anchor it to the ground, and I will allow my spirituality to overlight and instruct my learning of the craft of floristry. And then I realise I started this years ago.

Flowers Help, Flowers Heal
We all know that giving or receiving flowers elicits smiles, but do you know why? Sure, they are pretty and they smell nice. But is there more to it than that? Well, there is plenty of research that suggests that the power of flowers is more than what meets the eye.
I know first hand from giving tours at the greenhouse that when the group first see’s the site of acres of gorgeous flowers, their faces all break into a smile, and not just any smile…
A Duchenne Smile!
A Duchenne smile is where the corners of the mouth lift but so do the muscles around the eyes that indicate true joy.
Flowers do that to people. Near the end of every tour I lower my voice and say…
“Can you feel that?”
Everyone stops and starts to look around, listening carefully to see if they can ‘hear’ what I’m talking about.
“What you’re experiencing is green energy. When you are surrounded by flowers, you don’t feel anger or frustration. All you feel is a sense of calm and well being.”
Everyone will slowly nod their heads at this point and reach a little harder to take it all in. With them all smiling now, I conclude….
“A plant in flower is in its highest expression of joy…. and THAT… is what you are experiencing right now”
As we exit the greenhouse and enter back into the real world, I can see every one is a little lighter in their steps. Their faces have changed from a rushed expectation to a relaxed contemplation.
The folks I managed to wrangle into joining our group that were somewhat reluctant are always the first to thank me profusely for the talking them into taking the tour.
Bar none, these tours are one of the highlights of my job… and not just because it’s always a success, but because it lifts me up to see others beaming from the experience.
Flowers have the power to heal and to bring joy. The positive energy they emit purifies the negative energy around us. Is there any wonder why they are apart of every special occasion in our lives? From celebrating a wedding to helping us grieve for the loss of a loved one…
Flowers Help, Flowers Heal
Can Flowers Heal You?
7 common varieties speak!
Doreen VirtueMore by this author
Mother Nature is a healer, and one of her most powerful gifts comes in the form of flowers. Each variety has a different “personality” to promote physical and emotional wellness. As Heaven’s masterpieces, flowers are Divine vessels of healing, and Flower Therapy is a method of working with different blossoms—based upon their appearance, fragrance, essence, colors, and energies—to address specific needs and desires.
Flower Therapy involves working closely with nature, including the fairies and angels. Fairies make wonderful allies, as they can help you manifest your heart’s desires. When you work with flowers, you automatically access fairy energy. Angels are also associated with each flower. Angels are our loving friends, involved in every aspect of our lives, and present throughout the planet. They are filled with joy when they see us utilizing God’s healing gifts through working with nature.
Flower Therapy is based upon nature’s healing abilities, similar to naturopathic medicine. Like the herbal treatments in naturopathic medicine, flowers can be used to create potent healing effects.
Since the fragrance and colors of flowers extend into the energetic realm, Flower Therapy helps with metaphysical issues. It can deepen your spiritual practice and open your psychic abilities.
Whether you’re working with flowers in your own garden, or specially purchased to heal a specific situation, they will bring more emotional, physical, and spiritual beauty into your life.
Here are 7 of the most common flowers and their healing properties:

Using Flowers to Enhance Chakra Energy Flow
HEAL
“...I feel very strongly there is an intelligence at work in every flower, in every blade of grass, in every cell of my body.” ~ Eckart Tolle
As you walk through a garden or floral shop, which flowers usually catch your eye? The red roses? The white lilies? The soft lavender? With their simple presence, flowers have a mystical way of raising our spirits as well as the vibrational energy of any room. Subconsciously, we tend to draw toward the flowers that most closely match our desired state of being.
Each flower has a unique color and essence that vibrationally corresponds with one or more of the seven chakras in our body. Meditating upon a particular flower, therefore, can help us open and align any chakras that may need healing.
According to the philosophy of yoga, there are seven main chakras, or vortexes, that move life force energy (prana) through our bodies. They are the meeting points of consciousness and matter. Each chakra is vibrating at a different frequency and responds to similar vibrations of light (color). In fact, chakras are often visualized as lotuses or flowers.
If you are feeling a block in your emotions, plant or buy some beautiful flowers that match the vibration of the corresponding chakra. Place the flowers in a pot or vase where you can see them often. You can also use a photo or painting of that flower. As you gaze upon the flower, ponder the qualities you’d like to develop. For example, if you’re lacking in willpower, you may have solar plexus (yellow) chakra blockages. Bring in beautiful black-eyed Susans and focus on the quality of mental strength.
Root Chakra
Also known as muladhara, the root chakra is located at the base of the spine. It includes the first three vertebrae, the bladder and the colon. Essentially, it is the ‘survival’ chakra that carries the energies of stability, security, groundedness and your deepest emotions regarding your physical body. It is represented by the color red, the slowest of all wavelengths in the visible spectrum, but also the most physically stimulating. If your root chakra is feeling blocked -- if you are feeling unstable, insecure or fearful -- you may want to plant or buy some bold red roses, hibiscus or poinsettias.
Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra, or svadhisthana, is located between the pubic bone and navel and encompasses the genital and urinary systems. It is responsible for creative expression, manifestation, and issues of control and sex. It matches the vibrational frequency of orange and is represented by the tiger lily, hibiscus, marigold and bird of paradise. Writer’s block? Having control issues? Meditate on one of these flowers and dwell on the qualities of creativity or ‘letting go.’
Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra, or manipura, is located between the navel and the breastbone. It is associated with intellect, self-esteem, self-confidence and willpower. It is linked to the color yellow and is symbolized by black-eyed Susan, dandelions, daffodils, honeysuckle and chamomile. When you are lacking in willpower or confidence, meditate on one of these flowers and focus on the qualities of assertiveness and confidence.
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra, or anahata, is the fourth and central chakra; it is the bridge between the lower chakras of matter and the upper chakras of spirit -- the meeting point of body and spirit. It includes the entire circulatory and immune systems. As its name suggests, it is the chakra of love, compassion and generosity. This includes love for others, ourselves and God. This chakra is associated with the deep green that is found in grass and stems and leaves of all types. As love is also linked to the color red, many flowers associated with the heart chakra display red, or pink, as well. Flowers associated with the heart chakra of love include roses, carnations, azaleas, hibiscus and orchids.
Throat Chakra
The throat chakra, or vishuddha, includes the neck, thyroid, jaw, mouth and tongue. It carries the energies of verbal expression and speaking our highest truth. It vibrates at the color blue and is represented by hyacinths, bluebells and morning glories. If you are feeling a block in communication with a partner or feel that you are not being heard, bring one of these beautiful blue flowers into your home and meditate on the value of expressing your highest truth.
Third Eye Chakra
The sixth chakra is the third eye chakra, or ajna. The center of intuition, the third eye chakra is located between the eyebrows and is associated with a deep indigo. Do you need to open your intuition? Plant or bring in some hydrangea, lilac, lavender, sweet pea, violets or petunias.
Crown Chakra
The crown chakra, or sahasrara, represents enlightenment and spiritual connection to our higher selves, others and God. It is located at the crown of the head and expresses itself in the color violet or white. As you work on your higher spiritual connections, surround yourself with white lilies, jasmine, periwinkle or geraniums.
