Rahu and Ketu are the most important factors of an astrological chart. Their influence cannot be overstated or overemphasized. According to Hindu myth, Rahu is the reason a Soul incarnates on the Earth plane. Many spiritual traditions say that as Spirits in human bodies, we are here to learn and grow, to experience that which cannot be experienced in other Spiritual Realms. Human beings have accelerated karma. When a person is born, he meets with physical matter. This matter, whose distinctive feature is the Earth element, accelerates the rate of experience and therefore, spiritual evolution. Rahu, which is not a planet but a point in the sky where total eclipses occur, reveals to us the earthly realm of experience where most spiritual evolution will occur. Ketu reveals the earthly realm of experience that needs to be perfected and effectively released.
The Myths of the Moon’s Nodes, Rahu and Ketu
The myth of Rahu is a myth of creation and the myth of Ketu is a myth of dissolution. Throughout world cultures there are myths of creation. Many of them involve a great flood or of water covering the entire Earth. Water represents consciousness, but not manifest creation. It is within this consciousness that creation can come forth. If we have an idea, it is not yet manifest in physicality, but can be through hard work. The same can be said of the Earth and all of its creatures. To gain experience, to grow, to learn, to create, and to perfect; these things are inextricably entwined with Rahu and Ketu and on an individual level, their placement in an individual’s horoscope.
Varaha is the Avatar of Rahu
Brahma, the creator, had been commanded by the Supreme Being to create. He gave this instruction to his son. His son came back to him and said, “But the Earth is submerged underneath he Waters, how am I to create with no Earth?” Brahma thought about this long and hard, but not being able to come up with an answer in normal consciousness, withdrew into meditation. Suddenly, a tiny boar emerged from his nostril and flew down to the Waters to retrieve the Earth. The boar’s name was Varaha and as he flew, he grew larger and larger, until he grew to giant proportions. When he hit the water, he swam down and retrieved the Earth from under the water. While he was swimming to the surface, he was attacked by a demon. A fierce battle ensued, but the demon was eventually slain by Varaha and the Earth was brought to the surface of the Waters. For bringing the Earth from beneath the Waters, Varaha was praised by Brahma. The Earth was then considered the wife of Varaha. Varaha then gave sacred rites on creating balance and fulfilling desires, called Yagyas after which, he disappeared.
Interpretation:
As mentioned before, Water represents consciousness. The Earth was submerged in consciousness and Varaha, the avatar of Rahu, brought Earth to the surface of consciousness just as Rahu is said to bring Souls to the Earth, to the ‘surface’ where they can experience what has previously been buried within their consciousness.
Why did the Boar fly out of the nostril? The sense of smell is made possible by the Earth element. We cannot smell unless the Earth element is present.
The demon that Varaha encountered on his way to the surface represents all of the doubts, fears and ‘inner demons’ we encounter when we try to go in the direction of Rahu, when we try to manifest those things that are unknown and unfamiliar to us, represented by Rahu. The fact that Varaha brought the Earth into manifest creation signifies that the Earth cannot exist without Rahu or the Earth exists because of Rahu. This concept is spotlighted by the legend that Rahu is the reason Souls incarnate on the Earth to gain experience.
All aspects of the horoscope can be transmuted, or worked out, internally. Everything in the horoscope can be worked out in the mind, except for the placement of Rahu and whatever it touches in the horoscope. Rahu is married to the Earth and everything Rahu influences must be worked out in concrete, physical existence, i.e., on the Earth and not in the Mind.
Meena, the Avatar of Ketu
One day a mighty king went fishing in a pond. He caught a small fish and was surprised to learn that the fish could talk. The fish said, “Hello Mighty King, my name is Meena. Please take me home with you.” The King, knowing that this was no ordinary fish, took Meena home and placed him in a fish bowl. The next day, the King looked in on the fish and was amazed to find that the fish had grown so large, he filled the entire fish bow. The king took him to a pond in his back yard. The next day, Meena had grown to the size of the pond. The King then took the fish to a large lake. Sure enough the next day, the fish had grown so that he filled up the lake. Meena said, “Please dear King, take me to the Ocean.” The King took the fish to the Ocean and said to him, “I know you are no ordinary fish. You are the Lord incarnate come for some great purpose that you wish to tell me.” The fish said, “You are right dear King. In seven days there will be a great flood. Gather together the other six Rishis and build a boat. I will carry you across the flood until the time the Earth reemerges.”
The King did as Meena had told him and built the boat. On the appointed day, the King and the other Rishis got into the boat and Meena came and pulled them across the Waters into the next Cycle of Time when the Earth reemerged.
Interpretation:
At the end of a Cycle of Time, the Earth is submerged under the Waters and the Fish, Meena, which is the Avatar of Ketu, is able to keep knowledge alive represented by the Rishis. He does this by pulling them in a boat to the next Cycle of Time when the Earth begins anew.
In an individual horoscope, whatever Ketu is influencing is so ingrained in the psyche that it has been kept alive in the consciousness between lifetimes. As the death of the Earth is portrayed as an end to the Cycle, a death of a human being is the same thing. But Meena, the avatar of Ketu, carries certain aspects of a person’s consciousness through death and into the next incarnation. Whatever Ketu planet, sign or house influences is an area of life the person will be very familiar with and very talented in. In this lifetime, the goal is to perfect those things Ketu influences by following the path of Rahu. Those things that Ketu influences cannot be perfected by relying on Ketu which most people do in the 1st half of their life. We have doubt and we scrutinize those things Ketu influences because we know they are not perfected and we want to perfect them, but cannot while operating out of Ketu.
Rahu, Ketu and the Mind
Astronomically, Rahu and Ketu are points in the sky where total eclipses occur. Rahu is the north point and Ketu is the south point. In fact, currently astronomers still are not 100% sure of exactly where Rahu and Ketu are at any given moment. They can only make estimations and that is why we have 3 different astronomical measurements for the nodes. Since Rahu and Ketu are points in the sky where total eclipses occur, then they form an intersection between the path of the Moon around the Earth and the path of the Earth around the Sun. Rahu and Ketu are an intersection just like the Ascendant/Descendant axis is an intersection of the horizontal plane with the Earth’s surface.
The Ascendant represents the birth of the body and the Descendant represents the death of the body. The Ascendant is the place where the Sun rises or is metaphorically born and the Descendant is the place in the sky where the Sun sets, where it metaphorically dies. Correspondingly, Rahu is the birth of the Mind and Ketu is the death of the Mind. Both Rahu and Ketu have the power to ‘swallow the Lights’ i.e., cause eclipses. The birth of the Mind (Rahu’s placement) shows where the Mind must concentrate and where it must strive in this incarnation. The death of the Mind (Ketu’s placement) is Moksha or liberation. Another word is perfection. When the Mind is perfected, it can die and become the Universal mind, the goal of many a yogi.
Moon as the Mind
In Vedic Astrology the Moon represents the Mind. The Mind contains the Jiva or the soul particle that has the idea of separate existence or individuality. The Mind also contains the Ahamkara or Ego. In this sense, the Moon is like the Sun in Western Astrology. The Moon is the Mind and the Sun is the Soul. The Moon like the Mind, takes the light of the Sun as the Mind takes the light of the Soul, and it waxes and wanes. In other words, it changes, just like the individual changes and their character changes. The Soul like the Sun, on the other hand, does not change. It is constant and forever, unchanging and perfect; it is Truth. Truth never changes. In light of this, the Moon is the most appropriate planet to represent the Mind and the Mind is the Individual. One cannot truly experience the Soul on planet Earth unless one is an enlightened master. Therefore, we operate as individuals with all of our characteristics and idiosyncracies, which is ruled by the Moon. The Sun represents how in touch we are with our Soul Nature. That corresponds to our self-esteem, confidence and how well we can access inspiration.
Rahu is more troubling to the Moon than Ketu. In fact, one of the names for Rahu is “Moon Troubler” and the very reason we are offering this course! Whatever planet Rahu influences by conjunction it is trying to develop. It is a rather difficult task to develop the Mind. The purpose of Rahu with the Moon is to strengthen the Mind and to push the person to develop inner poise and inner peace. In the first half of life, it may be extraordinarily difficult to do this and the person may feel overwhelmed and quite fearful of outer circumstances and may develop phobias and addictions. Outer circumstances and the ups and downs of life may seem chaotic to the person. The goal is to turn within and strengthen the Mind with many types of available self improvement.
In India, when they ask you, “What is your Sign?”, they really mean, “What is your Moon Sign?”. They are always referring to the Moon Sign. It is called the Janma Lagna. Whatever Sign the Moon is placed in is very much an identity factor for the person, just like the Sun sign in Western Astrology. Whatever House the Moon is places within becomes a very important area of life for the individual. The Moon’s own Sign is Cancer and its exaltation sign is Taurus. How the Moon is situated from these two signs also gives a clue as to how the Moon will behave. The Moon’s Nakshatra is very, very important as well. Probably more important than the Sign placement. In this course, we will explore the deities of the Moon’s Nakshatra of the participants and how to placate these deities to strengthen the Mind.
Moon as Femininity
The Moon is the most feminine planet, even more so than Venus. The Moon rules one sign of Cancer, a feminine sign. All of the other planets rule two signs. The Moon rules the receptivity of the Mind and the emotions that are a reaction to what the Moon perceives. To strengthen and placate the Moon is to become more aware of the emotions as they arise and to act on them in a healthy way. Most neurosis is caused by denying the initial emotion and acknowledging the compensating or second emotion, which is usually anger or fear. When negative emotions arise, it is usually due to vulnerability. When the Moon is heavily afflicted, the person does not like to feel vulnerable at any cost. It is almost always felt as a life or death situation because the Mind perceives extreme negativity, even if the situation does not warrant it. The second reaction is either anger or withdrawal in order to protect the Mind from fear. When the Mind reacts with withdrawal, this usually translates as depression.
Rahu and Ketu through the Signs and Houses
Rahu and Ketu in Signs shows the underlying psychological and emotional issues the person must confront to resolve the house placements of Rahu and Ketu. For example, if someone has Rahu in Aries and in the 2nd house, then only through acting on impulse (Aries) and going in their own direction no matter the imput from others (Aries), will the person be able to accumulate and utilize their own resources (2nd house). This will resolve the underlying issues of diplomacy, trade and partnership (Libra) in the areas of life such as other people’s or the spouse’s money (8th house) and occult practices (8th house).
The remedy is to act on their initial impulses and avoid weighing pros and cons.
The placement of Ketu in Libra will resolve, complete and perfect the significations of Libra, mainly relationships and business, by acting through Rahu’s placement. There are some exceptions to this rule. When the lord of Ketu is with Ketu or when the lord of Rahu is with Ketu, then there is much more emphasis on the sign and house placement of Ketu and the native must work in the areas of Ketu, rather than Rahu to achieve balance.
For Rahu in the 1st house and Ketu in the 7th house the above description applies here as well. The house position reflects more of the concrete, physical manifestations of events, rather than psychological quirks and blockages.
Rahu in Taurus or the 2nd House and Ketu in Scorpio or the 8th House
Taurus is the sign of self-sufficiency and wealth. It is represented by a bull, which signified wealth in many cultures for centuries. Taurus is also a sign of food, the face and one’s family and environment. The Rahu in Taurus person (or in 2nd house), is a person trying to develop their self-sufficiency and wealth in this lifetime. It usually takes a while for someone with this placement to acquire any savings. Rahu in Taurus people are do not have a sense of their own self-worth. They may not ever ask for a raise or take low-paying jobs because they cannot instinctively feel their inherent worth. To feel worthy, they may seek fame, because fame is a type of material validation. Rahu likes to compensate by going very far from the direction of Ketu. This means the person may set their sights on becoming very wealthy. However, this is not the proper remedy. Taurus and the 2nd house are places where we have responsibilities and where we must take care of things. Being validated for the task of taking care of what is your responsibility is the way to develop Rahu in Taurus or the 2nd house this lifetime. If you take care of animals, your home, your spouse, your children, in a way in which you are truly fulfilling your responsibilities, then you are developing Rahu.
Ketu’s placement in Scorpio or the 2nd house, shows someone who has developed a lot of emotional security in past lives. These people do not need a lot of emotional support. They are very secure emotionally and do not need help from friends or family when they are feeling down. However, they are not completely secure until they develop material security shown by Rahu’s placement in Taurus or the 2nd House. Focusing on Rahu’s placement will give them a more well-rounded view of what it means to be secure in life. There are exceptions to this rules, however, which apply when the ruler of Ketu is with Ketu or the ruler of Rahu is with Ketu. In that case, the native will be perfecting Ketu’s placement of emotional security and learning to effectively use other people’s money and resources.

Pluto Retrograde @23* CAPRICORN: Kelly M. Beard: Weekly Forecast: April 21 – 27, 2019.

Kelly M. Beard: Weekly Forecast: April 21 – 27, 2019

by ForeverUnlimited

Weekly Forecast: April 21 – 27, 2019

The video version of this forecast, as read by Kelly, is available here.
4/22 ~ Sun (essential self & core drives) ~conjunct~ Uranus (disruption & liberation):
This energy serves to provoke a radical shift within you, catalyzing the desire to breathe fresh, clean, new vital energy into your idea of who you are and what you came to contribute. It may not be comfortable, but it is necessary and even moreso for those of you who are rigid in your habits & thinking, or depend on others to validate who you are and what you contribute. Sometimes a little disruption serves to get you focused on what is really important to you. And at this time, change is in the air. It is far better to use the intensity of collective change to shift on personal levels, rather than try to go it alone or worse, play the martyr or the victim. It’s time for your most unique Self to contribute the piece only you can. This activation may bring the suddenly clarity you need and a refreshed attitude toward life, which can help tremendously as you fortify the connection to what makes you feel truly free & independent. If you resist the shift, you will manifest other disruptions that are far less productive, much more frustrating and significantly more costly.
4/24 ~ Pluto Retrograde @23* CAPRICORN:
Pluto is in a long process of purification & transformation (2008-2024) and retrogrades annually, facilitating evolution on a more subtle level, although if your chart is activated, it may not *feel* subtle. On a personal level, Pluto helps you dig up any destructive unconscious patterns, strips you raw and confronts you with who you are and how you will survive when nothing and no one else is available to help or support you. I like to think of Pluto as our ‘buried treasures’ and like diamonds, it often requires a very special task to release from within and bring into the Light. Often, because Pluto rules death, rebirth & transformation, something is sacrificed for your own greater good. Although it may be sometimes painful and debilitating, it doesn’t have to be, but is almost always (a) necessary and (b) ultimately *liberating*!!
Pluto is traveling through the Capricorn sector of your chart, digging deep and activating any other planets you may have in Capricorn (and Cancer/Aries & Libra by default). So, it’s good to look at this as an on-going purification & transformation of this department in life (and, subsequently the other three areas too). Pluto moves generations and great numbers of people along their evolutionary path, however, every year when it retrogrades, it turns that energy inward, giving us unique access to our own depths, where our SoulSelf resides. When it goes forward, it is a very gradual awakening process that develops from there. Transformation happens behind the scenes and often out of the prying eyes of others, as well as your own conscious monkey-mind, this is deep Soul Work that only you can do. What have you really purified & transformed this year? or what would you like to?
Use this time to set intentions for purification in the sense that you are supported to strip away the non-essential and reconnect with your purest, original intent. Change is greatly supported at this time, so anything that you are really ready, truly willing & finally able to change, can be transformed forever. Capricorn gets everyone focused on choices & responsibilities, as well as the structure of your life that supports & protects you and the overall stability of whatever House it rules.
4/27 ~ Mars (action & desire) ~square~ Neptune (dreams & illusions):
This can be an annoying energy, to say the least. Basically, you may be confronted with challenges which are a direct result of earlier choices. These are the kind of choices you eventually realized were wrong and “hoped” the consequences would somehow pass you by. Not. You may feel very discouraged, possibly depressed, and be filled with fear & doubt. The key to getting through this energy is to take a step back, reflect on your choices and what led you to this point and, as objectively as possible, evaluate what went wrong. The tendency with this energy is to want to give up completely on the path you have chosen when all that is probably necessary is a little tweaking. Try to identify the aspect that is causing the conflict. If you don’t feel that you can be objective enough or that you struggle with identifying this aspect, enlist two other people to give you their opinion and then follow your gut instinct on the direction to take from here. The other temptation with this energy is to be deceptive – either to your Self or others. Either way – don’t give in – it will only come back to bite you (harder) later. Your physical energy is likely to be low as well. Do not force your Self to do anything you are truly not “feeling” right now. Instead, meditate on what action may be necessary when your energy returns. Be still. Avoid confrontations with others as it is just the energy pushing you out of comfort zone, into new territory. This is a test of sorts and the best way to deal with it is to face your fears and clarify your desires. My personal two-cents about these two planets (Mars & Neptune) in a difficult angle, is to reflect on what actions (Mars) have been taken (and NOT worked) toward the fulfillment of your dreams (Neptune) – and start your “tweaking” there.
~~~
The Karmic Tools Weekly Forecast covers the current planetary transits which affect people in different ways and to various degrees of intensity. Take notice when it is a Personal planet (Sun / Moon / Mercury / Venus / Mars) interacting with a Social (Jupiter/Saturn) or Collective planet (Uranus / Neptune/Pluto). And pay extremely close attention when it is a Social planet interacting with a Collective planet because that means something *big* is brewing that will move large groups of people along their evolutionary paths. Tuning in to the energy and rhythm of the planets can serve as a useful *guide* as you move along your Individual Path. It also helps to understand your place within the context of the larger Social & Collective Story. Below, you will find out how these energies tend to manifest, as well as guidance and direction.
*NOTE*  There are some days when there are NO CONTACTS (besides the Moon), please note that there are no missing entries, we just list the actual Activations of each week + the day they happen.
So Pluto, the transformer, and Saturn, Lord of Karma are in Capricorn and so are affecting my Moon, Mercury and Venus in my seventh house. " Those with major Seventh House lessons emerge knowing that love's shadows are also expressions of the soul and part of true intimacy."
Last week, on April 24, Pluto made its station, and this week -- on April 29, just five days later -- it's Saturn's turn to change direction. This overlap of their concentrated energies is making this a very pivotal time. Pluto is the great Transformer, lord of the underworld, and rules over major life transitions, including the passage into the afterlife. Saturn is Father Time, lord of karma, and tests our strength and discipline.
 Both planets are in Capricorn, which rules over the structures that we rely on to be solid and strong. Pluto is revealing where certain systems are faulty, while at the same time, Saturn is testing their strength. As a result, we are seeing breakdowns in areas we perhaps had thought were dependable.
 In our personal lives, this effect is concentrated in the area of life represented by the house that contains 20 to 23 degrees of Capricorn. If we have planets or points in our birth charts at those degrees, we will most likely be feeling this impact on a very personal level.
 THE LONG-TERM IMPLICATION of all of this activity is increased because the South Node is also currently moving through those same degrees of Capricorn. And, in fact, Saturn exactly aligns with the South Node on Tuesday of this week.
The South Node represents our pull into patterns of the past that no longer serve us. While this node is in Capricorn -- and especially while it aligns with Saturn -- we observe tendencies to fall into the negative qualities that can be associated with both Saturn and Capricorn: fear, control, melancholy, pessimism, resentment, rigidity, selfishness, the suppression of feelings, and a lack of empathy. In essence, the South Node is telling us that the old methods we used to use to survive -- basically, putting blinders on to our feelings and perhaps to the emotional needs of those around us -- are no longer viable.
THE NORTH NODE, always exactly opposite the South Node, reveals the positive qualities we must develop in order to evolve. With the North Node in Cancer, we are called to become more caring, not less. We are called to choose trust over fear and control, inspiration over pessimism, and understanding over resentment. We are also encouraged to express our feelings instead of suppressing them, and to become more creative and intuitive in our approach to life.
What's Cooking in the Seventh House?
It can tell you whether you'll do better alone or as part of a pair
A strong Seventh House brings together a husband-and-wife team that is more than they are apart. They're known as a pair, and changes to that, such as a separation, affect everything else.
There are twelve houses in astrology, and you'll find your Seventh House on your birth chart. Look for planets and the zodiac sign on the cusp to suss out your relating style. This is an air house; it has to do with ideals and whether we come close to them or fall short.
Like Looking in a Mirror
The Seventh House is where you'll find insight on relationships. It's traditionally called the house of marriage, but it defines how you pair up, whether it's in love, friendship, or business partnerships.
The Seventh House holds clues to all important one-on-one ties, including enemies and arch-rivals. The many hues of relating, from harmony to life-or-death power struggles, are expressed here. Astrologer Kevin B. Burk calls it the "guest room" and notes that we might not realize it's part of us—part of the whole chart.
That's when the phenomenon of projection happens, when you draw people to you that have traits you're less visible with. You might have to ponder the kinds of people that you tend to meet, and look for patterns.
First House and Seventh House: Identity
The First House is about identity, and across the wheel, the Seventh shapes your identity in a relationship. Both are angular houses, which means they're forward leaning and have an impact.
Do you find it easy to pair up, or are you a singleton?
Older astrology books will tell you that this house is about delays in marriage or May-December romances, where you're attracted to more mature partners or vice versa. Planets here affect relationships, whether they're conventional or break the mold. If Uranus is here, for example, you might have some unusual set-up, like each having your own room.
With Jupiter here, your beloved opens you up to far-flung worlds, cultures, and horizons. You're generous with others and inspire them to reach for what's calling their heart and soul. You like to remind others of possibilities, so they don't stay in a narrow groove.
Is your love life tragic, or are you lucky in love? Will you marry many times or just once? Will it be a happy marriage, a tumultuous one, or both? Like the love line on your palm, this house has clues to what lessons you'll encounter.
The Seventh House shows whether you're apt to partner up in business or go it alone. An energized Seventh House (Sun or Mars) makes it likely that working as a duo gets you farther faster.
Jupiter in the house of partnerships is auspicious for tandem ventures and ups the chance for financial reward. If Saturn or Pluto is in the Seventh, there can be power struggles, and you can walk through ordeals and trials together, hopefully growing stronger. Those with major Seventh House lessons emerge knowing that love's shadows are also expressions of the soul and part of true intimacy.
My personal planets in Capricorn, Moon, Mercury and Venus.In my Seventh house of relationships.
https://www.thoughtco.com/the-seventh-house-207256
Moon is in 17 Degrees Capricorn.
You are serious and shy and very uncomfortable in those situations where spontaneous and exuberant emotional reactions seem called for. An achiever, you prefer doing practical, worthwhile things that produce tangible results. You need role models to respect, love and emulate. You tend to feel that you're a failure unless you get an important and highly respected position in life. Don't be so hard on yourself! For you, practical needs always win out over emotional considerations. Remember that you too have the right to comfort, security and love. Dutiful and patient, when you make an emotional commitment, you sign on for the long haul -- your love is long- enduring.
Mercury is in 24 Degrees Capricorn.
You are a careful thinker, very cautious and conservative. You are quite skillful at organizing, directing and planning activities. Practical and useful things interest you -- you are not attracted to abstract thoughts or ideas. With your tendency to be highly focused and very goal-oriented, you have a good head for business. But beware of a tendency to be narrow-minded and dogmatic. Your sense of humor tends toward being earthy and slapstick crude.
Venus is in 22 Degrees Capricorn.
You tend to keep your feelings under control -- emotions are only released in serious or important situations. You are distrustful of others whose behavior could be judged excessive or immoderate. As such, you prefer to relate only to those who are older than you or to those whose position is such that respect and duty are more important for both of you than passion or emotional response. Be careful, however, of relationships that are merely based on practicality or utility or you will ultimately be lonely.
Aspects of Note This Week
All times listed are Pacific Daylight Time. For Greenwich Mean Time, add 7 hours.
MON: Sun sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Saturn goes retrograde
TUE: Saturn conjunct South Node, Venus trine Ceres, Mercury sextile Mars
WED: Mercury square nodal axis, Mercury square Saturn, Uranus semisquare Neptune
THU: Mercury square Pluto, Mercury trine Jupiter
SAT: New Moon 3:45 p.m. PDT
SUN: Mars quincunx Pluto, Mars opposite Jupiter
AS WE TRAVEL THE ROAD that takes us from April to May, three compelling planetary events provide the backdrop for our journey, while a handful of other aspects reveal either smooth stretches or the challenges of uneven pavement.
Two of the more significant events are linked together: Saturn goes retrograde on Monday, and then exactly aligns with the South Node on Tuesday.
WHEN A PLANET comes to a standstill, whether to go retrograde or direct, its influence becomes heightened in our experience. We usually feel this for a week or more on either side of the exact date, since the planet is virtually motionless throughout that time.
Last week, on April 24, Pluto made its station, and this week -- on April 29, just five days later -- it's Saturn's turn to change direction. This overlap of their concentrated energies is making this a very pivotal time. Pluto is the great Transformer, lord of the underworld, and rules over major life transitions, including the passage into the afterlife. Saturn is Father Time, lord of karma, and tests our strength and discipline.
Both planets are in Capricorn, which rules over the structures that we rely on to be solid and strong. Pluto is revealing where certain systems are faulty, while at the same time, Saturn is testing their strength. As a result, we are seeing breakdowns in areas we perhaps had thought were dependable.
In our personal lives, this effect is concentrated in the area of life represented by the house that contains 20 to 23 degrees of Capricorn. If we have planets or points in our birth charts at those degrees, we will most likely be feeling this impact on a very personal level.
THE LONG-TERM IMPLICATION of all of this activity is increased because the South Node is also currently moving through those same degrees of Capricorn. And, in fact, Saturn exactly aligns with the South Node on Tuesday of this week.
The South Node represents our pull into patterns of the past that no longer serve us. While this node is in Capricorn -- and especially while it aligns with Saturn -- we observe tendencies to fall into the negative qualities that can be associated with both Saturn and Capricorn: fear, control, melancholy, pessimism, resentment, rigidity, selfishness, the suppression of feelings, and a lack of empathy. In essence, the South Node is telling us that the old methods we used to use to survive -- basically, putting blinders on to our feelings and perhaps to the emotional needs of those around us -- are no longer viable.
THE NORTH NODE, always exactly opposite the South Node, reveals the positive qualities we must develop in order to evolve. With the North Node in Cancer, we are called to become more caring, not less. We are called to choose trust over fear and control, inspiration over pessimism, and understanding over resentment. We are also encouraged to express our feelings instead of suppressing them, and to become more creative and intuitive in our approach to life.
Saturn will align with the South Node one more time this year, on September 27. But, Saturn and the South Node will be joined at the hip throughout August and September, never separated by more than two degrees. This makes that entire two-month period very significant for our collective evolution. At that point, we should be able to look back at late April/early May and see connections between the two time frames, further clarifying the lessons of this alignment.
AS IF our table wasn't already full enough, our planetary waitstaff deliver another course this coming week. On Wednesday, we have the final (of five) exact semisquares between Uranus and Neptune. This is a very long-term influence, one that we've been working with since the middle of 2017. This week represents the culminating experiences related to this aspect, wrapping up its lessons.
While a semisquare is often thought of as being a "minor" aspect, any relationship between two slower-moving planets can be significant. In this case, especially, since Uranus and Neptune are both transpersonal planets, we are considering some deeper questions related to our ongoing process of awakening.
URANUS AND NEPTUNE traveled side-by-side in Capricorn throughout the early 1990s, and were exactly conjunct three times in 1993. Although both of these planets can have substantial impact on our mundane experience, they also help us to transcend the limitations of the physical plane — Uranus working on the level of the mind, and Neptune working on the level of the heart.
In the early '90s, many of us experienced a sudden and perhaps shocking change (Uranus). Events that occurred may have at first evoked disbelief and disillusionment (Neptune), but over time, they eventually opened the door to new growth in consciousness. Those events woke us up in some way, burning away areas of fog that had been limiting our self-awareness.
THIS SEMISQUARE is the first challenging aspect between Uranus and Neptune since their alignment in 1993. In essence, we are sitting for our first major exam covering everything that we've learned spiritually over the past 26 years. We are being required to take another growth step in consciousness, to dissolve another layer of the veil that has separated us from one another and from our divine selves.
Uranus and Neptune are compelling us to expand our capacity for higher-level thought and sensitivity. Our yearning to attain this evolutionary growth deepens every time we experience the lower-vibrational manifestations of the two planets — the erratic and destructive behaviors associated with Uranus, and the deception and disillusionment linked to Neptune.
I feel it's safe to say we've been experiencing a lot of that frequency in the past two years, since this semisquare began to work with us. And, it would be easy to fall into a pit of apathy, based on a sometimes overwhelming feeling of futility. And yet, we want to ask ourselves -- what has been (and is) the higher purpose of all of this? This type of question connects us with the higher frequencies of Uranus and Neptune, and opens the door to that next expansion of consciousness which so many of us long to walk through.
A NEW LUNAR CYCLE begins on Saturday, May 4, at 3:45 p.m. PDT, when the Sun and Moon align at 14°10′ Taurus. Significant components of the New Moon chart include a Mercury-Pluto square (exact on Thursday), a Mars-Jupiter opposition (exact on Sunday), a Venus-Saturn square (exact on May 7), and a Sun-Neptune sextile (exact on May 8).
We generally think of peaceful, methodical progress when we consider Taurus. And, certainly, we can use the New Moon in this sign to set our intentions for creating more beauty and serenity in our lives. However, the other aspects tell us that we have a few hurdles to overcome along the way.
MERCURY'S SQUARE to Pluto perfects on Thursday, so we'll be aware of some differences of opinion and some frustrations toward the end of the week. Anger is easily triggered, especially if we feel we're not being heard by someone in authority. The verbal push-pull increases over the weekend, magnified by Mars in verbose Gemini opposing Jupiter in dogmatic Sagittarius. The fall-out might affect personal relationships and business alliances by the time of the Venus-Saturn square next week.
Our saving grace appears in a couple of ways: the Sun-Neptune sextile is a subtle influence, but it provides the opportunity for us to tap into the higher qualities of compassion, understanding, and surrender as we deal with practical concerns. This aspect also enables us to provide grounded spiritual support to others. And, next Monday, Mercury leaves impatient Aries and enters stable Taurus, helping slow down our responses and giving us time to think before we act.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This coming year asks you to realign with what you truly value. You are also remembering what it means to take care of yourself -- both your emotional well-being and your personal health -- even if others expect you to self-sacrifice. This is your opportunity to base your self-esteem on who you are, rather than on what you do, and to know your worth as an individual, not dependent on another's validation. (Solar Return Sun quincunx Ceres)
In Gratitude and Light,
Pam
