The type of Consciousness thought we download is at its strongest when we are connected directly to source, and the 'sun sign' is to do with the 'astrology' of the combination of events, emotions and 'expansion through' processes we are currently being directed through. In other words, we go with the flow of the astrological river, the route which it seems is preplanned.
Source>SUN>inner sun
How Source directs flow to you is watered down and directed through the prism of your astrological sun sign.
When we have not got a direct SOURCE SUN connection, we grab (or default to) what ever type of 'sun' we can get from the lower energy systems, which sometimes cannot sustain us to 'be' the best we can be, so that we can only express the lower level characteristics within the astrology river that requests our presence. So the 'lower energy available' sun affects our conscious mind and then often what we bring to 'Fruition', or harvest, or 'yield' is a direct response to having only a small limited sun to work with. It is a learning lily pad, from which we eventually leap off into the bigger waters of life.
We have different conditions that sets the goals of our SUN, our conscious thought, our YANG actions, our external world.
And we have other characteristics that set the workings of our Moon, our subconscious thought/feelings and emotions, our Yin, where we nurture in the depths of us, which determine the colour and nature of what we birth and create.
Our 'type of 'SUN is what brings to these fields the 'type' of energy and they way we use (enhance or deplete) the elements that fertilize the yield of what we create.
So the question is: Is astrology, a rescue from ourselves, a map, a life line, a life bouy, and a way of guiding us back 'home' purely because, in our conscious thought we have become 'separated' and disconnected from source???
OR. Is astrology the Divine Plan and pattern unfolding for each of us as living breathing 'learning aspects of Source' to go through and experience directly, each and every permutation 'of type' in order for our individual expansion on this plane or level of existence???
OR. Is it both of the above, just at different levels of mirroring and reflections, which we understand differently on different levels, and does the relevance of Astrology becomes obsolete as we pass by the need for its guidance, moving through higher and higher levels of experience and creation????
The energy to fuel your Sun sign is depleted when it is fuelled by its mirroring of a depleted Male/father lineage/inner sun. That means a continuation of lower energy of 'sun' (and therefore the sign it comes in on) which is not yet at its highest potential of creation. So....its still on the lily pad, learning pad with restrictions and limitations.
A look at my astrological sun sign of Aquarius and moon sign of Capricorn gives me the following guide to where my natural flow is, and I have either:
.... lower energy to fuel me along a preplanned divine plan, (which changes according with the choices and actions I make in each life) and such a lower energy (false light energy) is in truth, nonsupporting and unsustainable...which means I may get scared/fearful and stuck, being then resistant to flow, and so I cling to the branches that over hang my river... not going anywhere...
Or highest Source connection to fuel me along a pre-planned divine plan, in which I am strong as I have higher assistance and better grade fuel. I do not get scared and fearful, I go with the flow. I go where I am guided by the flow, reaching and passing destinations which change up levels as I continuously expand....

Here's a basic look at my astrological sun sign of Aquarius and moon sign of Capricorn which gives me a guide to where my 'natural' flow is. Bearing in mind in astrology we have 12 sign houses, and 12 signs to put in those houses, and depending on the birth time and date, not all those houses are filled, some sign houses have nothing in but asteroids. Astrology is a much bigger picture than the daily sun sign horoscope.

The Sun’s position by zodiacal sign in the natal chart shows our style, our life purpose, and some might say, our destiny. What are we learning to be in our lifetime? Look to the Sun for answers. Libra is not naturally cooperative — they are learning to get along with others. That is why Libra spends so much time focusing on relationships. Similarly, Cancer is learning about emotions, Aries is learning about itself and learning to be courageous, and so forth.
Accept your Sun () and happiness will come more easily to you; deny its better traits, and you won’t know where you are going in your life. The Sun’s sign is your style when you are at your best, and it describes your goals and life purpose.
Another way to think about the Sun is to imagine that it is your personality’s Boss. Mercury acts much like the secretary to the Boss, and the Boss sends Venus out when personal relationships are the issue. When the Boss wants action, it turns to Mars. But remember that no matter what the situation, the Sun is the Boss of your personality.

Sun in Aquarius
(The Sun is in Aquarius from approximately January 20 to February 18, depending on the year*).
One of the standout characteristics of those born under the Sun Sign of Aquarius is their unwillingness to follow the beaten track. With advancement and progress on their minds, there can be an irreverence to old and outdated ways of thinking and doing things.
Many Aquarians aim to free themselves of personal and social conditioning. Although open to change in theory, Aquarians can be surprisingly stubborn. Their idealism runs strong, but they can be very fixed in their opinions.
(So my fully functioning Moon operating under the shine and warmth of my Inner sun would look like this:)
Moon in Capricorn

However turbulent their emotions may be under the surface, Lunar Capricorns keep cool-headedand they come across as steady and reliable people.
This position of the Moon suggests a desire for clear boundaries and realistic goals. Not much for taking risks in life, Lunar Capricorns look for safety and security in most everything they do. They quickly garner reputations of being mountains of strength, and they easily hide their sensitivity behind a sarcastic manner.
You may have read that Moon in Capricorn natives are a bit cold and calculating. The fact is, they are unlikely to be any less emotional than the other 11 sign positions of the Moonthey simply aren’t comfortable “letting go” when it comes to emotions. They keep their emotions under control. Wherever Capricorn is found in the chart, there is a desire for structure and control. Capricorn is the sign of organization and efficient management; so, when the Moon is found in the sign, the world of emotions are well-managed and handled in an efficient and practical manner.
At the heart of Lunar Capricorns is a powerful need to feel worthwhile in the real world. There’s a basic need for respectability and a big attachment to the world of the senses. Lunar Capricorns put a lot of value in all things tangible and real. And, perhaps more than anything, they need to be respected by others in order to feel secure.
