OUR FULL MOON this Wednesday occurs a spare four hours after the moment of the Equinox, when the Sun enters Aries. This means that the lunation is occurring at the Aries Point, a highly sensitized and significant point of the zodiac. When the Aries Point is activated, events tend to occur in the public eye, or involving large numbers of people.
On top of that, this is a SuperMoon, the last one of 2019. As mentioned in earlier Journals, a Full Moon is called a SuperMoon if it occurs when the Moon is at perigee, the nearest point in its orbit around the Earth. With this closer proximity, the Moon physically appears larger than usual. It also has a stronger effect on the Earth, the tectonic plates, the ocean tides, our emotions, and our physical bodies.
In other words, we will be working with heightened energies this week, a rather amplified Full Moon effect.
AT THE TIME of the lunation, which perfects at 6:42 p.m. PDT on March 20, the Moon is at 00°09′ Libra, placing it in alignment with the fixed star Iota Crateris.
Astrologer Roderick Kidston tells us that Iota Crateris "is about refining the soul and building up talents to their highest and best." He further explains:
"Iota Crateris shows up with remarkable frequency amongst the world's success stories, and there seems to be something high, even exalted, about its impact. It opens up the true High Road of Spirit, but it is beset by perils for the ill-prepared, arrogant, and careless. On the other hand, when you figure out how to take this glory road with true understanding, skill, and grace, the Divine Grace comes flooding down and lifts you up as high as you are able to rise."
We are likely to see some who achieve great heights with this star being activated, and others who experience falls from grace. In true Full Moon style, some of these events will be dramatic, surprising, and sudden.
On a personal/spiritual level, we might want to consider the day of the lunation as a sacred opportunity. The potentials exist for an energetic upgrade, perhaps even for a quantum leap on our journey of enlightenment.
WE ALSO should note that this Full Moon is within two degrees of the Super Galactic Center, which is at 02°04′ Libra. According to astrologer Philip Sedgwick, the Super Galactic Center is a supermassive black hole that acts as "a cosmic vacuum cleaner." He writes:
"The black hole is a powerful point in space that ultimately consumes everything we know. Everything is headed here, like it or not. It might just be better to jump on the time/space curvature band wagon and beat the rush at the rapture. Simply, get inside yourself and deal with the good that it is you."
My interpretation of the Super Galactic Center's involvement in this Full Moon is that this week represents another "uptick" in the speed at which we are evolving. The timeline is shifting into an even higher gear, pulling us more and more rapidly toward our cosmic destiny.
Perhaps this is why many of our life lessons are coming to a crisis point right now -- personally, socially, and globally. An important shift is occurring. It's time to "jump on the time/space band wagon," and "deal with the good that is you."
THE ARIES SUN is aligned with Chiron at the time of the Full Moon, adding yet more potentials to the event. Chiron, called the Wounded Healer, is our cosmic physician, diagnosing our dis-eases and offering techniques for healing. Chiron in Aries is essentially devoted to healing the masculine side of our personalities, and to helping us embody the qualities of the Divine Masculine.
When assertiveness turns into aggression, forthrightness into bullying, courage into false bravado, or leadership into domination, our masculine energy is out of balance. If needed for our healing, Chiron helps us see how these darker qualities may be the result of fears and resentments that have been suppressed. When we are mistreated or oppressed and do not fully heal the wounds that resulted, we are left with scars that then inhibit our flexible approach to the challenges of life.
Paradoxically, in order to heal these wounds that affect our capacity for healthy self-assertion, we must become vulnerable. As we admit the pain and fear we felt -- and honestly love and fully accept the fearful child within -- the scars can begin to soften and dissolve, and we can begin to express positive masculine traits. This is the job of Chiron in Aries.
THE EFFECTS of this powerful Full SuperMoon clearly dominate the energy field this week. While there are other aspects in effect (such as Wednesday's empowering Mars-Pluto trine and Thursday's confrontational Venus-Mars square), their influence is woven into the Full Moon experience, and will be hard to differentiate energetically.
By the weekend, however, we'll be working with an influence that will feel quite different: Retrograde Mercury aligns with Neptune in Pisces and both planets are square the asteroid Juno in Gemini. We will be drawn inward with these aspects, perhaps to more fully contemplate recent events or to realign with the small, quiet voice within.
The squares to Juno, the asteroid of marriage, indicate that we may not be willing quite yet to share our thoughts and reactions, even with someone we deeply love and trust. A rose must sometimes be allowed to open more fully, before we pluck it from its stem and offer it to our beloved. A blossom clipped too soon will only wither, even if sheltered lovingly and placed in water right away. We will know when our vulnerabilities are ready to be shared, and with whom.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: You are moving into a year of powerful healing potentials. There may be times when you experience a lack of self-confidence, but be aware that this is simply your inner child calling out for your love and support. During times of insecurity, take a break if you can, or be sure to revisit your feelings at the end of the day. Getting impatient or even angry with your feelings of vulnerability will only increase their ability to come forward at times when you feel they are least acceptable. The more you can sincerely embrace and accept the part of you that lacks courage, the more it can become your ally instead of your enemy. It has gifts for you, if you will take the time to love and listen. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Chiron)
In Gratitude and Light,
