OUR PLANETARY REPAST seems to arrive in three fairly distinct courses this week. The hors d'oeuvre plate (Monday-Tuesday) features dwarf planet Ceres and the subject of self-care, the main course (Wednesday-Thursday-Friday) is built around Mercury and themes of communication, and the dessert tray (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) highlights Venus and relationship issues.
Ceres is the Earth Mother goddess, and in her current transit of Sagittarius, she is reinforcing the need we all have for freedom in our lives -- freedom to expand our horizons, to realize an ideal, and to explore life's meaning, each according to our own beliefs and philosophies.
CERES is in hard quincunx aspect to Mars in Cancer on Monday. This represents the conflict between that need for personal freedom and the desire to care for and nurture loved ones. We can feel at an impasse, knowing that to choose one seems to deny the fulfillment of the other. As a result, we can feel directionless, and that any effort will be an exercise in futility. With a quincunx, the solution is said to be in finding a third way -- not by compromising, but by shifting our perspective and our attitude enough that it allows another option to present itself.
Ceres then opposes the Gemini Sun on Tuesday. Once again, it may feel as if the question is "either/or" -- either we follow our deeper wisdom and pursue the path of expansion, or we convince ourselves (or allow others to convince us) that we should do what makes the most logical sense. To resolve this dilemma, it is vital that we reinforce our positive feelings of self-worth, so that we do not feel it necessary to judge the opinions of others as a way of confirming that it is OK to take care of our own needs.
THE LIST of aspects involving Mercury starting midweek is quite lengthy, and a bit problematic. With the Mercury-Neptune square on Wednesday, we find it hard to wrap our minds around our usual tasks -- daydreaming and imaginings keep drawing our focus away from the mundane world. Then on Thursday, our thoughts feel scattered and without a place to rest (Mercury-Uranus), while at the same time we may be condemning ourselves for not being able to concentrate (Mercury-Saturn).
The Mercury-Jupiter opposition, also on Thursday, amplifies our need to express our thoughts, but may not help us be on the listening side of the conversation -- which, of course, leads to some interesting exchanges, since everyone's talking and no one's hearing what's being said! Mercury's last aspect of the week, a quincunx with Pluto on Friday, shows the results of what happens when we agree to something without really understanding what we're agreeing to, and then end up feeling like we've given our power away.
DESSERT ARRIVES before we're done with our Mercury main course, as Venus is sextile Neptune on Thursday. This subtle influence can help bring compassion into our exchanges with others, as we can appreciate their aesthetic and the goodness that lies within them. Friday's Venus-Saturn trine is also helpful, as we find ways to stabilize relationships, and to affirm our loyalty and commitment to loved ones. It's not completely smooth sailing, however, as a Venus-Chiron semisquare can bring up old insecurities and interfere with our ability to fully trust one another.
Saturday looks to be a day of adjustment, with a Venus-Jupiter quincunx in effect. We may feel stymied about how to fulfill our promises while also staying true to the course we feel our lives must take. Thankfully, a shift occurs on Sunday, when a Venus-Pluto trine enables us to be honest about our deeper needs, in a way that increases the bond of intimacy we share with significant others.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR! My next webinar, which will cover the astrological energies from July 2019 through January 2020, will be on Thursday, June 27. I'm entitling the class "Coming into Focus," and will include more details in next week's Journal. Stay tuned!
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This year requires you to get in touch with your own truth, and to be willing to share your thoughts with others, even if it complicates your relationships. The challenge will be not to go to extremes, or to feel that you need to speak more loudly in order to be heard and understood. You will come to realize that the power of your words is most profound when they are spoken calmly and from the heart. As you grow in this way, you will find new ways to express yourself. You will also be able to let go of judgments of others, finding that they are merely indicators of your own uncertainties. (Solar Return Sun opposite Ceres, sesquiquadrate Pluto)
In Gratitude and Light,
