On the surface this is good. But toxicity needs to be purged from all decision making policies. The fact that highstreet shops are closing due to exorbitant high rents, ( my chinese accupuncture and herbalist closed her business in Rayners Lane because the rents became impossible) and people are buying most of their stuff online, shows that small business enterprise can't flourish, pushing More and more people to Intergrate with on-line shopping, consumersim that takes the person out of a BUYING situation, it becomes random and automatic and unconscious, where often the wider implications are masked as the consumer becomes HOOKED into VIRTUAL REALITY and so Blinded from his/ her REALITY... It also means that less wealthy nieghbourhoods are loosing a central sense of community. The rents and mortagages, the only way for people to get a place to live, are totally toxic, and produce toxic living conditions of working three or four jobs just to pay rent...The exclusion zones that seclude the wealthy make living in the city toxic too as it continues to deepen the chasm of wealth disparity :Gated communities are security guarded from their more " lower and 'lesser' nieghbours in rundown, or deprived borough areas. So Yes~~NO to toxic fumes~~but RAISE the energy when making decisions that affect REAL people. Mostly REAL people have been systematically squashed and pushed further and further outside these 'high rent/ high maintenance and Ultra low emission zones. It is STILL a parallel dance of two steps forward, and several steps back. It is the estates agents and property developers, drawing on feed from the Globals and CORPORATES that decide which area benefits from a 'healthy and estheticly pleasing' community of highstreet shops, and where lifesless and 'rundown' persists to affect inhabitants. It is those who most need this interactive social lifestyle that don't get access to a nice bench and a safe area of small shops, that don't get to have a caring and ' human' interaction in a safe and sociable way. These of course are the elderly and the economically vulnerable. It is social engineering that is deciding which population of humans has value.

Dear Miss Barry McGrath,

The Central London Ultra Low Emission Zone is now in operation to help tackle London’s toxic air. Owners of vehicles that don’t meet the new stricter emissions standards but wish to drive within the ULEZ now need to pay a daily charge. This will be in addition to the weekday Congestion Charge.

If you are currently exempted from paying the CCZ, you may still need to pay the ULEZ charge if your vehicle does not meet the ULEZ standards.

You have received this email as a registered Oyster card user with TfL. As the introduction of ULEZ is a significant change to help improve the air quality for all Londoners we have taken this opportunity to update you in case you are also a vehicle owner or driver.

Check your vehicle on our online Vehicle Checker to see if you are affected.

Where & when does ULEZ operate?

For essential journeys, you can avoid the charge by using a vehicle that meets the emission standards. Otherwise, where possible, use public transport, walking or cycling. If you do choose to pay the daily charge, you can do so by:

Registering for Auto Pay (£10 admin charge per vehicle per year)
Visiting our website and paying online
Downloading the free official TfL app

Daily ULEZ charge:
Cars, small vans motorcycles & minibuses: £12.50
Lorries, coaches and larger vehicles: £100

The daily charge runs from 00:01-midnight.

Some drivers and vehicles will qualify for a temporary discount from the ULEZ charge. For more information, please visit our Discounts and exemptions webpage.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Cowperthwaite
