This Important Astrological Transit Will Last Until 2022

It’s all about the *Nodes of Destiny*.

PSA: An important but ~underrated~ astrological event is about to happen: On May 5, the Nodes of Destiny will change signs. ICYDK, the Nodes of Destiny (aka the Nodes of Fate, the Lunar Nodes, or, less dramatically, the North and South Nodes) are two mathematical points in the sky reflecting the relationship among the Sun, Moon, and Earth. In astrology, the North Node represents the qualities we need to develop in order to grow, while the South Node represents the qualities that come naturally to us…and that we might rely on too much.

Every one and a half years, the Nodes change signs and move backward (yep, they’re ~naturally retrograde~). When this happens, they tell us about the areas in our lives that we need to work on over the next one and a half years as well as what we need to release. Basically, we’re cosmically pushed to release certain views and develop new ones.

On May 5, the Nodes of Destiny will enter Gemini and Sagittarius, where they’ll stay until January 18, 2022. The North Node (representing what we need to add to our lives) will be in Gemini, which means we’ll need to focus our energies on intellectual growth, work on improving our communication styles, and let go of anxieties. The South Node, entering Sagittarius, indicates that we’ll have to let go of the urge to be “right” all the time and concentrate on the details (rather than forgetting them when looking at the big picture). The Nodes work together, which is why it’s important to consider them both. Don’t give too much to the future or the past—instead, work to balance out their energy.
