FGM. OMG.

Still on the subject of Betrayal...I don't think it is understood just how deep it goes...
Because it is perpetrated, brother against brother, person against person, and individuals self perpetuate this in self betrayal,  it is in a direct response to their own identity as defined within the bigger pond of betrayal.

This status is considered normal, such as in everyday things like war, beatings, dog eat dog, unscrupulous dealings, tricking, manipulating, lies, deceit, and these things are all on the News before we have our breakfast, and so they remain our 'Normal'.

As I was coming out of my sleep state this morning, I caught the tail end of  a thought,
it was the phrase 'FGM'.
So,  it is weird for me to consider this thought of FGM, as it is not normal in the society I grew up in...we have many other betrayals that we contend with...but FGM is not one of them.
But FGM is considered a NORMAL practice in many portions of the world.
My point is, 'Betrayal' comes in, and through, many guises, many methods, many belief styles that purport to be at the heart of the Welfare of its people.

So Why am I throwing FGM in now? Why is this coming to menow?
Maybe it is because it is a reminder, an example, of how communities can be lead into such binding betrayal, because they are convinced, have been convinced, that this betrayal is one which at its heart, is for the good of All its people.

With hindsight, and reforms, maybe FGM will soon be an extinct practise, as the benefits for the good of all its people, is questioned by more and more, and finally SEEN for what it is, and has been always....
....a massive and direct attack, And a betrayal set on its beautiful female population, and to a lesser extent, an indirect betrayal on those males whose energy systems have been syphoned off and trapped into fuelling this betrayal. This has been the long slow dance of  betrayal, in which the victim and perpetrator have been bound up in for so long. No one wins, the energy is 'slave,' as it is with most 'betrayal' dynamics.

AND IT IS JUST ONE EXAMPLE, and, where we CAN SEE,  any system of betrayal in Others,
OVER THERE, another culture, class, status, Caste system, belief system...
..........We NEARLY ALWAYS CAN'T SEE it in OURSELVES ...or in our OWN back yards, because our betrayal systems are normal, to us in OUR OWN SOCIETIES.

An end to Lockdown could be winging its way to us soon?
I Just hope that once the lessons of Betrayal are Actually SEEN, (Not just that which is perceived  to be an obvious betrayal, OUT THERE, Somewhere else)
.....that they are also SEEN  in our own dealings with self and others,
.....that they are SEEN to be the way we understand HOW business is done in this 'energy dynamic',
that humanity has internalised into its understanding of what is NORMAL

....by that I mean that we need to 'wake up'

  • from this method of understanding life on earth, as peoples which blindly collude with the betrayal of all our uniqueness and expression, freedom and creativity...
  • and to stop repeating the action of betrayal on ourselves, and towards each other,
  • and to swiftly accept and embrace, an entirely NEW energetic, that honours ourselves and each other,
  • and that this NEW energetic becomes the guidance at the heart of our communities and populations.
So, I am guessing, that is why I woke up this morning thinking about FGM
Michaela.

Fighting Female Genital Mutilation with the Education of Girls: Judica’s Story

Jan 31 2020
The campaign against FGM is already bearing fruit, girls being forced seek refuge in their schools by reporting it to their teacher or police, some even run away and seek shelter in safe houses far away from their boma (community)Some parents, who have undergone the procedure themselves do not want their daughters to undergo the procedure, contributing to the changing tide against FGM. More and more younger women are finding help opposing the practice and not living through the trauma that their mothers and grandmothers had to endure.

Why FGM is carried out

FGM is carried out for various cultural, religious and social reasons within families and communities in the mistaken belief that it'll benefit the girl in some way (for example, as a preparation for marriage or to preserve her virginity).
But there are no acceptable reasons that justify FGM. It's a harmful practice that has no health benefits.
FGM usually happens to girls whose mothers, grandmothers or extended female family members have had FGM themselves, or if their father comes from a community where it's carried out.

Where FGM is carried out

Girls are sometimes taken abroad for FGM, but they may not be aware this is the reason for their travel.
Girls are more at risk of FGM being carried out during the summer holidays, as this allows more time for them to "heal" before they return to school.
If you think there's a risk of this happening to you, you can download the Statement Opposing FGM and take it with you on holiday to show your family.
Communities that perform FGM are found in many parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Girls who were born in the UK or are resident here but whose families originate from an FGM-practising community are at greater risk of FGM happening to them.
Communities at particular risk of FGM in the UK originate from:
  • Egypt
  • Eritrea
  • Ethiopia
  • Gambia
  • Guinea
  • Indonesia
  • Ivory Coast
  • Kenya
  • Liberia
  • Malaysia
  • Mali
  • Nigeria
  • Sierra Leone
  • Somalia
  • Sudan
  • Yemen

The law and FGM

FGM is illegal in the UK.
It's an offence to:
  • perform FGM (including taking a child abroad for FGM)
  • help a girl perform FGM on herself in or outside the UK
  • help anyone perform FGM in the UK
  • help anyone perform FGM outside the UK on a UK national or resident
  • fail to protect a girl for whom you're responsible from FGM
Anyone who performs FGM can face up to 14 years in prison.
Anyone found guilty of failing to protect a girl from FGM can face up to 7 years in prison.

The summer holidays are when many young girls are taken abroad, often to their family's birth country, to have FGM performed.
The FGM statement, also known as the FGM health passport, highlights the fact FGM is a serious criminal offence in the UK.
If you're worried about FGM, print out this statement, take it abroad with you and show it to your family.
Keep the declaration in your passport, purse or bag, and carry it with you all the time.
Download the statement opposing FGM on the GOV.UK website, which is also available in other languages.
