Abundance of Information, Scarcity of Wisdom
A precursor to Halloween, Sauin is an ancient Celtic tradition celebrated from October 31 to November 1 when the veil between worlds is thinnest and forces from the spirit world can commune with the physical world. Independent of any specific traditions, as the season changes we are invited to look inward, to quiet the mind, and to slow down to listen for whatever messages may be offered to us.
In the video below, Pachamama Alliance board member Dr. Anita Sanchez speaks about her own experience receiving and sharing traditional wisdom, which she relates in her recent book The Four Sacred Gifts: Indigenous Wisdom for Modern Times. Anita, a Mexican American Indigenous woman with a PhD. in organizational development, says we have plenty of information—all the information we need, in fact. What we need more of, is wisdom.
If you have a few minutes, find a peaceful place, maybe out in nature or your favorite cozy spot in your home, and listen for what wisdom the spirit of life has to communicate.
What wisdom are you finding in the world these days? What wisdom do you have to offer?
