Lockdown politicians, you’re barred!

WITH the country partially reopening, the hospitality industry is desperately hoping that customers start flooding into its businesses so they can lift their ailing finances to some sort of parity. In many parts of the country, the weather has been lovely, albeit a little cold, and the public, whose leashes have been slackened (for the moment), have come out in support of their local boozers, restaurants and shops. Refreshing as it has been for many of us to get out and do some of the things we’ve been denied for so long, it is good that some people in the hospitality industry are not so willing to forgive or forget those who have consistently voted for their destruction, as Sir Keir Starmer recently found out.
As anyone who has been paying attention to the activities of HM’s Opposition over the last year knows, the only difference from the restrictions we’ve seen so far is that Labour would have put them in quicker, kept them going longer and would have enforced them harder so it’s not surprising in the least that this landlord would have a word or two for Starmer.
One of the things I’ve been saying for a while is that pubs, restaurants and what politicians loosely describe as non-essential shops should close their doors to those who have voted for or propagated this destruction of their livelihoods. The hospitality industry has been treated shoddily by our politicians and now its workers have the opportunity to hit back and tell their MPs that they are no longer welcome in their establishments. I doubt if I’m the only one who watched the above video and applauded the actions of the landlord in Bath. I hope other businesses do the same.
