On the EGO. John Smallman Quote, and ....SETH. "You all have egos, and to live as humans in form you do need them. However, they are the aspects of yourselves that react in fear and anger to situations that appear threatening to them. They are like small children who have not yet learnt to understand that they need to respect and honor one another, and who continue operate from the “me, me, me” mode of being. As infants that is necessary because they need to be able to quickly attract the attention of those who are taking care of them and who are responsible for their welfare. Unfortunately it frequently happens that the caregivers are either slow to respond, or just don’t respond at all, and this terrifies the little ones. Then, as they grow, that state of neediness does not get resolved and released, and by the time they reach adulthood physically that “me, me, me” behavior has become deeply ingrained as a necessary survival skill. Unfortunately it is very damaging because it prevents them from becoming aware that they are beings of Love, the major lesson for every human to learn. To awaken involves becoming aware of this sense of inadequacy, which is all that it is, acknowledging its invalidity, and then choosing to let it go. The ego is an aspect of yourselves that needs to be seen for what it is, namely your hurt and frightened inner child, and then you need to comfort it and show it that it is utterly secure by the love you give yourselves. When you do this it can know itself to be totally safe, secure, and unconditionally accepted by you. This is most easily done by loving and accepting yourselves just as you are, and then working gently and lovingly with yourselves to dissolve the fear underlying that intense sense of inadequacy by loving it. When that happens, as it will if you choose to love and accept yourselves completely, your egos will then become fully integrated into the humanforms that you are, instead of remaining seemingly separated, and, in that state, feeling inadequate, unworthy, not good enough, and therefore fearful and angry." from John Smallman: You all have egos, and to live as humans in form you do need them. by ForeverUnlimited You are Love. EGO. Our friend, keeps us alive, but can't quite believe in the bigger picture of Nature.

Subconsciousness is the buffer zone between our outer Ego world, and inner realities.
The Ego Consciouness (attention to the outer world and seemingly separate from the inner, natural, spiritual counterpart path, which we follow in our dreams).

Ego is the guardian at the door of our subconscious. Ego is not letting anything or out, it controls the native, and drives the native away from his/her innate inner world, its nature, which is an entire creational universe that we are guarded from accessing....we only access this through symbols,  and our dreams.

The Ego consciousness path, is the path we turned onto, eons ago, and we continue to weave ourselves down this path to get to this point.

I like how Seth explains that the growth of this "ego consciousness path" is the unique path taken by the human species, which implies that we eventually get to where we need to be, having followed this type of process to get there. It seems to me that its time for this consciousness process to turn itself inside out and yield its harvest. Michaela.

The Self

According to Seth there are no divisions to the self, and yet he gives us descriptions of them :)

PartDescription
Ego
  • The Ego is the tip of the iceburg portion of the subconscious (Session 17) self that deals exclusively with physical reality.
  • The Ego is formed at birth of our physical being (Session 126)
  • The Ego's purpose is manipulation of the personality in physical reality (Session 183)
  • "...the ego, while a portion of the whole self, can be defined as a psychological "structure", composed of characteristics belonging to the personality as a whole, organized together to form a surface identity." - Session 616
  • Personality
  • Very closely tied to the ego but prior to the ego.
  • It is a portion of the inner self (Session 146).
  • "The personal subconscious and the ego are indeed equal partners in the formation of any given present personality." - Sesion 152.
  • "The personality in actuality is simultaneous action, that is composed of actions within actions. Portions of it are conscious of its awareness as a part of action, and portions of it attempt to stand aside from action. This attempt forms the ego, and is itself action." Session 164
  • "The sleeping personality is as close to the inner self as you will come in this existence" - Session 187
  • Subconscious
  • Connective between our physical brain and non-physical mind (Session 20)
  • Also a connective between our inner and outer senses (Session 20)
  • Owner of emotions (Session 25)
  • The subconscious is also the buffer zone between the inner and outer egos. (Session 35)
  • Cushions the outer Ego aganist the shock of reality. (Session 35)
  • The subconscious is the source of our personal identity (Session 126) and is our memory storehouse composed of many layers (Session 88). The topmost layer is the "personal" subconscious that contains pertinent information from this lifetime. Then would be memories of the time before this lifetime, then of the life before this one, etc...
  • Inner Ego
  • The portion of our selves still focused on inner reality
  • "The inner ego is the part of the personality that contains the highest aspirations and capabilities. It has been called by psychologists the subliminal self. When in such dreams your perceptions seem exceedingly clear, you can be certain that the inner ego is operating. Now all portions of the personality, of the present personality, belong to this inner ego." - Session 270
  • "It is the prime identity of the whole present personality. In many cases it is the I of your dreams. It is definitely the I of your creative activity. It is the I, you see, which survives physical existence, and the physical, physically-oriented ego is only a part of it." - Session 270
  • "Now the inner ego is the organizer of experience that Jung would call unconscious. The inner ego is another term for what we call the inner self. As the outer ego manipulates within the environment and physical reality, so the inner ego or self organizes and manipulates within an inner reality. The inner ego creates the physical reality with which the outer ego then deals." - Session 509
  • Inner Self(Same as the Inner Ego)
The Psyche(Same as the Inner Ego)
    Whole Self
  • Sum of reincarnational personalities. Ruburt is the name of Jane's whole self as Joseph is the name of Rob's whole self.
  • "The fact is that the whole self is constantly experiencing data from all of the inner senses. The inner ego is of course aware of this. The subconscious is sometimes aware of this, and the outer ego is aware of very little." - Session 35
  • "Therefore the whole self is not only the sum of the personality as you know it in your time, it is also the sum of what it has been and what it shall be." - Session 177
  • "Ruburt is the sum of the present ... Ruburt ... I want to get this as clear as possible ... Ruburt is the sum of the earthly personalities, intimately aware of all past lives." - Session 444
  • "In your terms the selves that are the sum of your reincarnational personalities. These whole selves then are a part of your entity." - Session 507
  • Entity
  • This is the highest form of identity that Seth speaks of next to "All That Is".
  • In NPR Seth says that a group of selves forms a soul. And the entity, or greater self, is then composed of souls (Session 637).

Jane Roberts quotes (showing 1-30 of 103)

“Suffering is not good for the soul, unless it teaches you how to stop suffering. That is its purpose.”
― Jane RobertsSeth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul
“You were born into a state of grace. It is impossible for you to leave it. You will die in a state of grace whether or not special words are spoken for you, or water or oil is poured upon your head. You share this blessing with the animals and all other living things. You cannot fall out of grace, nor can it be taken from you. You can ignore it. You can hold beliefs that blind you to its existence. You will still be graced but unable to perceive you own uniqueness and integrity, and blind also to other attributes with which you are automatically gifted.”
― Jane RobertsThe Nature of Personal Reality: Specific, Practical Techniques for Solving Everyday Problems and Enriching the Life You Know
“The imagination, backed by great expectations, can bring about almost any reality within the range of probalities. ”
    ― Jane Roberts
“As you sow in your subconscious mind, so shall you reap in your body and environment. Whatever your conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, your subconscious mind will accept and bring to pass. Whatever you habitually think sinks into the subconscious. The subconscious is the seat of the emotions and is a creative mind. Once subconscious accepts an idea, it begins to execute it. Whatever you feel is true, your subconscious will accept and bring forth into experience.”
    ― Jane Roberts
    “You create your own reality”
    ― Jane Roberts
“Therefore, as always, make of this voice what you choose to make of it. Make of me what you choose to make of me, but recognize within yourselves the vitality of your being. And look to no man or no idea or no woman or no dogma, but the vitality of your own being, and trust it. And that which offends your soul, turn away from, but trust yourself.”
― Jane RobertsThe God of Jane: A Psychic Manifesto
“The private experience that you perceive forms your world, period. But which world do you inhabit? For if you altered your private sensations of reality, then that world, seemingly the only one, would also change. You do go through transformations of beliefs all the time, and your perception of the world is different. You seem to be, no longer, the person you that you were. You are quite correct — you are not the person that you were, and your world has changed, and not just symbolically.”
